An evening of performances and readings with New Contemporaries alumni Beth Collar, Matt Copson, Patrick Coyle and Heather Phillipson. Curated by Niki Russell.
Beth Collar is currently in Bristol. She works in performance, text, drawing, video and installation. Recent projects and performances have been at The Rijksakademie, Amsterdam; Raven Row, London, 2015; The Serpentine Gallery, London, 2015; David Roberts Art Foundation, London, 2014; and Flat Time House, London, 2014. Recent exhibitions include Fig.2 at ICA, London, 2015; The Cipher and the Frame, Cubitt, London, 2015
Matt Copson graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2014. Current and forthcoming exhibitions include a solo show entitled ‘Reynard’s Fundament’ at Tramps, London and ‘The March Project’, Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE. Recent exhibitions include ‘Reynard Reforms’, Vilma Gold (2015), Bloomberg New Contemporaries at The ICA, Newlyn Art Gallery and The World Museum (2014) and ‘Escape Routes: Benedict Drew invites…’, LIMBO (2014). He is co-editor of expanded magazine Da Thirst. His empathy knows no bounds.
Patrick Coyle is an artist and writer. Recent performances include ‘Regents Park Transcription’, Tate Modern, London; ‘Found Cedilla…’, ICA, London; ‘Old Language’, Oxford Central Library; ‘It Said’, ANDOR Gallery, London; ‘Hullture, City of Cultrue’, Ferens Art Gallery and City Centre, Hull; ‘Battlesea Bottling Station’, Battersea Park and Pump House Gallery, London; ‘I couldn’t possibly… without…’, Whitechapel Gallery, London; ‘She Couldn’t Imagine What It Looked Like’, Kunsthal Aarhus, Denmark and Royal College of Art, London; ‘Walking Directions from Unknown Road’, Norwich Castle Museum and City Centre; and ‘Only Reference’, Saison Poetry Library, Royal Festival Hall, London. Coyle is a resident at The Hub, Wellcome Collection, London (2014-2016) and a member of The Disembodied Voice research group.
Heather Phillipson works across video, sculpture, music, drawing, text and live events. Solo projects in 2015 include the Istanbul Biennial, Performa New York, Schirn Frankfurt, Sheffield Doc Fest and Opening Times (otdac.org). Recent solo exhibitions include Bunker259 (New York), Dundee Contemporary Arts, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, and a video commission for Random Acts, Channel 4 television. Her recent solo events include Tate Britain, Serpentine Gallery, Palais de Tokyo, and the ICA. Phillipson is also an award-winning poet and was named a Next Generation Poet in 2014. She is currently Writer in Residence at the Whitechapel Gallery.
