Discussion with Tristram Aver, Samson Kambalu, Perminder Kaur, Ben Woodeson, Lotti V Closs & Nick Mobbs
To coincide with the Bloomberg New Contemporaries public programme, Nottingham Castle has invited a group of key speakers for discussion in the Long Gallery about the value and relevance of open-submission exhibitions for the artist, gallery and visitor alike. With Bloomberg New Contemporaries and the Nottingham Castle Open happening in the city simultaneously, we will discuss topics including: the value of ‘the Art Prize’, the benefit of these exhibitions for a diverse range of artists, and what the future of open-submission platforms might look like.
Chaired by Kirsty Ogg (Director of Bloomberg New Contemporaries and Nottingham Castle Open 2014 judge), panellists include Tristram Aver (Exhibitions Officer, Nottingham Castle), Samson Kambalu (Nottingham Castle Open 2003, BNC 2004), Perminder Kaur (Nottingham Castle Collection, BNC 1992), Ben Woodeson (Nottingham Castle Open 2015 selector, BNC 2003), Lotti V Closs (Nottingham Castle Open 2011 and 2014), and Nick Mobbs (Nottingham Castle Open 2005, 2006, 2010, Nottingham Castle Open Grand Prize Winner 2013, BNC 2010 and 2006).
